SUBMISSIONS:
East Meets West, AmericanWriters Review is proud to offer this bi-annual writing contest. Each official finalist will be printed in the Review. First, Second, Third place winners along with honorable mentions (4th and 5th place) will receive a free copy of the Review.
Submissions will officially be accepted December 31, 2011 through April 30, 2012. Simultaneous submissions to other contests are considered, as long as the editors at East Meets West are notified. All submissions must be original and unpublished.
Each story must be accompanied first by a cover sheet that includes the writers name, the title of the entry, his/her complete mailing address, email address, phone number and the word count of the work being submitted. The author's name should not appear on the submitted work. Only the title should appear on the actual literary work.
Writer's may submit multiple entries, but these must be submitted as separate Microsoft Word documents, with separate cover sheets and separate entry fees. For second or third entry the fee is reduced to $10/entry.
We will announce the winners online approximately 4-5 weeks after the contest deadline. The $15 per entry must be paid through the secure server, PayPal, Mastercard, or Visa. See instructions below for complete submission guidelines.
POETRY:
We consider submissions of up to three poems per entry. We consider all forms and styles of poetry, including narrative and lyric.
FICTION:
We consider submissions of short stories up to 3,000 words in length. There are no limitations on form or subject matter, but we do enjoy stories that are driven by a compelling narrative voice, dynamic characters and a plot that makes the story worth reading.
NONFICTION:
We consider submissions of creative nonfiction manuscripts, including memoirs, essays, and reviews up to 3,000 words in length. There are no limitations on form or subject matter, including stand-alone pieces from memoir or story in progress.
